Driver Faces Attempted Murder Charges for Attacking Officer

BEVERLY HILLS (CNS) - A Los Angeles police officer who stopped a motorist just inside Beverly Hills was punched and had to be taken to a hospital with shoulder and hand injuries, according to the Los Angeles Times.    

The fight was caught on a cellphone by a passerby about 11:30 a.m. in the 8300 block of Wilshire Boulevard, near San Vicente Boulevard.  

The man had a headlock on the officer, whose sunglasses went flying from his head, The Times reported.  

A couple of people came to the officer's rescue before other officers arrived to hold the motorist down.

The motorist was arrested on suspicion of assault on an officer, and now faces attemped murder charges.
