Yasiel Puig Arrested For Speeding; Dodgers Release Statement

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was arrested early Saturday morning on a reckless driving charge in Florida, according to The Naples Daily News. Puig was reportedly behind the wheel of a 2013 Mercedes when an officer clocked him driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone on Alligator Alley (Interstate 75).

Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Greg Bueno announced the arrest on Saturday afternoon. Details have been few to this point, but Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times did provide this update about an hour after the initial report.

This marks the second driving arrest for Puig in the past eight months. On April 29, Puig was clocked driving 97 mph in a 50 mph zone at 1 a.m. in Chattanooga, Ten, where he was playing for the Dodgers Double-A affiliate. Puig was charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance, but all charges were dismissed in November by Judge David Bales due to Puig's lack of prior record, the fact that he had moved out of state to California, and for his active participation in community service activities.
